Generative AI tools may be used only for narrowly defined support tasks: improving the grammar and readability of an already-drafted manuscript, and helping non-native English speakers polish language. Any such use must be disclosed in the submission's AI-use statement, naming the tool and describing what it was used for.
Generative AI must never be used to draft original analysis, findings, arguments or interpretive claims - particularly claims about Indian Knowledge Systems, traditional practices, or primary sources, which require direct human scholarly engagement with the source material. AI-generated citations must never be submitted without independently verifying the cited work exists and says what is claimed; fabricated citations are treated as academic misconduct under Chirantan's originality policy.
Undisclosed or undisclosed-scope AI use discovered after submission may result in the manuscript being returned for revision or, in serious cases, rejected.
